THE THATCHED COTTAGE,
CORNWALL, 1866
watercolour on paper, 20.5 x 28.5 cm
Private Collection
This is one of the
earliest known works by Elizabeth Parsons, and at this stage of her life,
as she was not married, it is signed with her maiden name 'E.WARREN'.
It is a traditional English style watercolour, typical of that period,
and shows the strong influence of her English watercolour teachers.
What it does show,
is that even in these early years of her artistic training, Elizabeth
Parsons had considerable drawing skills, and was also highly skilled in
the handling of the watercolour medium.
