Denes de Holesch - Horse Paintings

Denes de Holesch earned for himself an international reputation as an accomplished landscape artist, a portrait artist of considerable skill, and one of the great horse painters. His horse paintings are very distinctive and fall within seven broad themes. These are polo, circus, rodeo, hunt, bull-fight, race-course and running free. In a journal article in 'Impacto' in 1976, de Holesch was described as the 'Pintor de Caballos', and Sir Harold Acton on viewing the horse works of de Holesch, described him as the 'Stubbs of the Twentieth Century'.
